Role: Art Direction, Visual Design
Lead design of the KitchenDaily site from concept to execution. Worked with product, editorial and UI teams to define the KitchenDaily user experience to meet the needs of a busy mom. Created the initial visual design and oversaw a team of designers executing on the final look and feel. Other contributions to site design included competitive analysis, creating personas, sketching concepts, facilitating brainstorming sessions between team members and site feature enhancements.

SlashFood is a blog that celebrates food in all it’s forms, geared toward the hip and techie foodie. I came up with the concept for the branding to play off the backslash in the name, as well as the negative space left by something being cut into. Worked with a freelance designer to create final logo.

Role: Art Direction
Oversaw the visual design of the blog and the branding for ShelterPop. Worked with multiple designers to explore different design solutions that spoke to the fun and friendly tone of the site as well as keeping it visually related to the look and feel of AOL Home. I also created graphics for the category bugs and promotions.
This is an alternate logo option for ShelterPop that was not chosen:

From the start of the Grocery List project, I provided competitive analysis of other list applications and worked closely with the product manager and UI designer to define feature requirements for the application to help make the best user experience possible. As the project went on, I oversaw the final visual design of the application to ensure the look and feel was simple and clean while feeling integrated into the overall look and feel of AOL Food. This was our team’s first project using the Agile development process and the developers and designers were working so closely and harmoniously that it did not require every stage of the experience to be mocked up. We were able to update visual design through CSS/HTML on the fly. Overall, this experience has been a differentiator for AOL Food and a positive enhancement to the site for the users.
